TEHRAN Three contracts on energy cooperation are expected to be finalized soon between Iran and Turkmenistan. The contracts are in the areas of oil and gas refineries as well as the manufacture of jetties, said an official here yesterday.

Addressing a press conference at the site of the Oil, Gas and Petrochemical Exhibition which ends Saturday, Seyed Mahmoud Emamzadeh, the managing director of the National Iranian Oil Engineering and Construction Company, said that the contracts would entail an approximate value of some 150 million dollars.

The projects, he further said, would be wholly enforced and implemented by Iranian experts, giving no details concerning the projects.

Emamzadeh also talked about a gasoline-producing unit which his company completed installing at the Turkmen-Bashi refinery last month. The refinery was also constructed and installed by his company in cooperation with other Iranian contractors. The gasoline-producing unit now produces some 11,500 tons of LPG per day.

The Turkmen-Bahi refinery was completed and delivered to Turkmenistan's authorities in March. On the refinery's inauguration, President Mohammad Khatami sent a congratulatory message to his Turkmen counterpart.

The Turkmen-Bashi project is valued at 47 million dollars and was completed in 27 months, Emamzadeh added, and that during the bidding for its construction Iran had three rivals in Turkmenistan--Germany, France and Japan.
